THE DOCTORS

 

Dr. Norette L. Underwood is a Harrisburg native. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1974. Her undergraduate studies were done at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. After graduating in 1977, she worked for Missouri Cancer programs until acceptance the following fall in the Louisiana School of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated from Lsu in 1982 and worked in small animal practice in New Orleans before returning back to the area she loved and opening Trumann Animal Clinic in April 1984. Dr. Underwood loves participating in all shotgun sports, reading, gardening, photography and learning more about about veterinary medicine. She is married to Don Nolen from Marked Tree. They have no children, but numerous cats and dogs. Veterinary medicine is something she always wanted to do. She feels very fortunate to come back home and be able to provide honest, current, compassionate medicine for the pets of Northeast Arkansas.

Dr. Victoria Zachary received her undergraduate degree (suma cum laude) from Arkansas State University in 2004 and her graduate degree (suma cum laude) from University of Missouri—Colombia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Originally from Jonesboro, AR, she practiced for 2 years at Countryside Animal Hospital in Hot Springs, AR before moving home to marry Dr. Travis Wolken of VetCare. Dr. Zachary is interested in small animal internal medicine and critical care as well as soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology. She also works as the shelter vet for the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society. Dr. Zachary enjoys spending time with her 2 boston terriers, Jubilee and Harvie, boxer puppy, Thalia, and her 3 cats, Ivory, Socrates and Belladonna. In her spare time, she loves to read, cook (especially baking), gardening, scrapbooking, and traveling with her husband.

amy.jpgDr. Amy Laws attended Southern Arkansas University for two years before being accepted to Louisiana State University where she received her veterinary degree in 1997. She has been with Trumann Animal Clinic since 2003. Dr. Laws has a special interest in soft tissue surgery. She is an avid reader and enjoys hiking, or biking with her family. She lives with her husband, Tim, who is a reining horse trainer, their 2 children, Logan and Chaney as well as their 6 cats, Bobtail, Puma, Creamy, Betty, Lion King and three dogs, Star, Spot and Jake. They also have a horse named Flicka.

MANAGEMENT

martha_2.jpgMartha started working at Trumann Animal Clinic when it opened in 1983. She is originally from Trumann, but has lived in Harrisburg for several years. Martha worked at the clinic when only one employee filled all of the positions, from kennel worker to receptionist to veterinary assistant. She has been the full time office manager since 1999. Martha has several hobbies such as reading and computer games. She is very active in her church and enjoys spending time at home with her family and 5 cats.

jamie.jpgJamie Leigh began working in the animal health field in 1992. She has worked every position from kennel assistant to Practice Manager. In 2000, she was awarded the Arkansas Veterinary Assistant of the Year. Jamie received her Veterinary Hospital Management Certificate from St. Petersburg College in 2009 and was proud to achieve the designation of Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in 2010 by the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association. She enjoys providing compassionate care to animals and their owners. Jamie has special interests in client communication, staff leadership, and nursing care. She lives with her husband, Tom and their 4 cats, Rina, Chowder, Truffles and Panini.

STAFF

becky_1.jpgBecky has been working at Trumann Animal Clinic since August of 2007. Her passion is to care for animals and make sure that all of their comforts are met. Becky looks forward to eventually getting married and having her own home.

tarsha.jpgTarsha has been working at Trumann Animal Clinic since March of 1999. She enjoys knowing the many clients and their pets. Her goal is to continue helping the owners and the pets and treating them like family. Tarsha lives with her husband, two boys, a chocolate lab, 2 shih-tzus and keeps a number of chickens.

lisa.jpgLisa has been working at Trumann Animal Clinic since 1988. She knew her entire life that she wanted to work with animals. Lisa believes that animals bring a peace and joy to life that cannot be measured. She believes that animals are not just pets, but that they are family. Lisa lives with her husband, Brian and their 2 cats.

janice.jpgJanice has been an employee at Trumann Animal Clinic since 1990. As a child, she grew up on a farm and had many different animals. Janice is happy to work for doctors that care about the health and welfare of all animals. She enjoys her job in client services and looks forward to answering your calls.

Jessica.jpgJessica worked at Trumann Animal Clinic while she was in high school. After working elsewhere for 5 years, she just couldn’t stay away and came back to the clinic in 2011. Jessica has a deep love for animals and their well-being. If she had a larger home she would take in every animal she found, as it is she has 2 cats, Abby and Jezebel.
